as lovely as this was an awesome all at once, it really did not say much overall about where to go or how to go about getting a scholarship. After realizing, wow you can! Then where do you take the next step in applying

Good point, heh heh.
I but in a ton of work when I was applying to school; I almost made applying for (and building up my applications) a full time job (between volunteering, starting things up and then actually putting pen to paper to submit the TEDIOUS forms).

I applied for most scholarships through the schools I was applying for. There's some BIG scholarships out there (mine was about $40K after it was all said and done)

Then, there are scholarships at your high school (which I'm sure you're aware of) if you make an effort to pour time into your school, you'll totally be recognized for that. Teachers are always pouring into kids and love it when the kids pouring into the school.

Studentawards.com is also another place. If you don't have a ton of experience (i.e. volunteer) I recommend these places. A lot of scholarships are given for writing essays (I dread essays...) but I think it's less time consuming then committing yourself to other pursuits.

Finally, RBC has scholarships!! (hurray!!!)
